SRI AMAN: The Sri Aman Division Administration and District Offices (RANDO) are gearing up to deliver a competitive performance at the upcoming RANDO Sarawak Sports Carnival 2025 in Samarahan, with hopes of securing podium finishes and strengthening camaraderie among civil servants statewide.

The official team launch held at the Sri Aman Resident Office meeting room introduced the division’s jersey theme and participation lineup, marking a spirited build-up towards the tournament scheduled from 6 to 9 November.

Resident of Sri Aman, Mahra Salleh officiated the launch and highlighted the contingent’s determination to translate discipline and teamwork into sporting excellence.

Featuring the iconic dove symbol in blue, the jersey reflects the values of resilience, loyalty and unity within the team.

A total of 94 participants will represent Sri Aman, comprising 61 men and 33 women competing across several events.

The contingent aims to clinch a gold medal in Pickleball, which will debut as a competitive sport at this year’s carnival.

Mahra, who also leads the team, said the contingent is targeting bronze finishes in Netball and Football, while Badminton and Table Tennis are expected to progress to the semifinal rounds.

He expressed confidence following Sri Aman’s recent achievement as runner up in the parade competition during the official birthday celebration of the Sarawak Head of State, an accomplishment he noted as a testament to the team’s discipline and commitment.

Mahra added that Sri Aman is aiming to place among the top five of twelve participating contingents. Beyond competition, he stressed the importance of strengthening inter-agency relations, cooperation and professional values in the public service.

“We want the spirit of ‘Rise RANDO Sri Aman, Rise Fly High’ to be reflected not only on the court but also in our daily duties as civil servants serving the people,” he said.

All sporting events will take place at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) while Pickleball will be hosted at The Summer Shopping Mall, Kota Samarahan.

The launch concluded with encouragement for athletes to demonstrate discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the carnival as a true reflection of the Sri Aman public service identity.

Also present were Sri Aman Deputy Resident, Charlie Keling, Sri Aman District Officer, Shariff Bujang, Representative of Lingga District Office, Nurshazani Fadli Bin Salihin, representatives from Pantu and Lubok Antu districts alongside team managers and contingent members. -UKASnews
